As experienced physiotherapists we will complete a thorough, holistic and evidence-based assessment in order to diagnose your specific problem. This allows us to select the most appropriate treatment techniques and advice to help you overcome your injury or physical impairment.
After completing a BSc (hons) Sports Science and qualifying as a sports massage therapist, I (Michael Ashton) first worked with elite athletes at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff. I went on to complete an MSc Rehabilitation Science at Brighton, qualifying as a physiotherapist in 2011.
After several years gaining broad experience as a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist in the NHS, I went on to establish a successful specialist clinic at a climbing centre with my wife Eve.
Before moving to the South Hams in 2016, Eve and I spent over a year establishing a new physiotherapy service for disabled children in Uganda, and training their local health workers. From here we went on to do further teaching with physiotherapists in India.
In my practice I am particlarly interested in analysing human movement holistically and love the detective work which leads to the cause behind a particular dysfunction. As a sports massage and Thai yoga massage therapist I am very hands-on and, as a qualified yoga instructor, enjoy encorporating yoga where appropriate.
When I’m not in the clinic I enjoy kite surfing, yoga, climbing, trail running and playing the guitar. I am passionate about leading an active and fulfilling lifestyle and take great pleasure in empowering my patients to do the same.
